What’s so special about a unicorn party? The way we make it fun and make unicorns come alive!
We could have sworn you said the ark wasn’t leaving until tomorrow.
Ask just about any child and they will tell you unicorns are real – or at least they would still be around if they hadn’t missed the boat! They will also tell you plenty of other “facts” about unicorns, such as you should never, ever feed a unicorn corn. There may be a bit of truth to the existence of unicorns when you consider that one-horned creatures have been depicted in cave paintings in Lascaux Caves in France that date back to 15,000 BCE. Don’t look too closely, though, because it could just be a poor artist. While there is doubt about that, there is no doubt that humans have been fascinated by unicorns for a very long time.
In fact, the unicorn is the national animal of Scotland. Scotland’s King James III even had coins depicting unicorns from 1460 to 1488. Scots celebrate National Unicorn Day on April 9 each year. Since 2015, it has been observed by true unicorn enthusiasts here in the United States, as well. Another tidbit of unicorn legend is that it was believed that the ancient Korean King Tongmyong frequently rode a unicorn. What is even more surprising is that in 2012, archaeologists in North Korea believed they found a unicorn’s lair based on a rectangular rock carved as such with the carving dating during the Koryo Kingdom period (918 to 1392). As it turns out, it ended up being a mistranslation as it actually referred to a different mythical being, a kirin, which has two horns.
Since there were and still are creatures with one horn, such as the Siberian rhino that lived around 27,000 BCE, it is possible that is how the stories of unicorns got their start. Regardless of where the legend began or the countless times that unicorns have appeared in historical and more recent stories, there is just something special about unicorns that makes us all rather wish we could see one up close.
With all that said, is there any doubt that among our horses here at Legacy Saddlebreds LLC, we might just have a unicorn or two? Perhaps normal horses, but during a unicorn party for your child, they’ll don beautiful single horns, and we’ll have plenty of unicorn-themed activities to make the birthday party one that your child and guests will never forget. It doesn’t matter if we believe in unicorns, you believe in unicorns, or the world believes in unicorns – your child does, and that is good enough for us.
Our unicorn party includes activities such as a scavenger hunt, face painting, and pony rides (oops, we mean unicorn rides!) held in either indoor or outdoor areas at our stables in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
If you would like to know more about our unicorn party for the unicorn-loving child in your life or learn about our other themed-birthday parties, don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We recommend contacting us as much in advance as possible so that the date you need can be reserved.
